I would certainly think Hoey qualifies! I mean, Heavy Bones is on here and he's in that band...
Agreed. His solo stuff rocks!

Two words Slick...
Fake injury

.. Don't worry, we won't tell.

JK.
this Testament cover of Judas Priest is great!!!! I have never heard it before now....wow!
Glad you dug that, Dale! Hope it was cranked!

Me too, Slick!!!

Along with insolent bitch day -
Mr. Sandman? That's reason enough to end Cover Day. Either that or slit my wrists. :x
Blind Guardian - Mr.Sandman (2:10)
(By Request)

Last Played: 2007-07-30. Produced by Flemming Rasmussen. The Chordettes cover. Have a nice day crew..

Loki

Loki, that was wild! What in the world made them do that? Dunno, but I was, well, shocked and awed. In a good way.
Mr. Sandman...that rocked!
Figures, I missed it.
LOL.. Yes, I figure sometimes we need some shocking element. It's too damn serious here.

Oh.. Black Lab, don't slit your wrist, it's not that bad. There are way way more unlikely cover tunes out there.
Keep it up and I'll play Stayin Alive with Ozzy and Dweezil.
What is with all the covers this afternoon? The Queensryche cover of "Neon Knights" was pretty good, but a couple of these really bite. I'd much rather hear the original in most situations. I really hate the re-recordings of songs. Maybe I'm in the minority opinion here.
they are all good....I am one that enjoys good covers no matter how bad a song was originally. Even the Jaded Heart cover of the Backstreet Boys rocks!~
Fates Warning - Saints In Hell

Keir - We must have pick that song at the same time...LOL. Expect another round of this song in the future. :D

Unfortunately you are in the minority. Some listeners have taken it upon themselves to make certain days "theme" days. I, for one, would rather leave it as open requests, or else you start to scrape the bottom of the barrel and play Mr. Sandman. Regular radio is bad enough with their regimented programming. We don't need it here.

As for the covers I agree alot with your sentiments. A song is usually covered because it is a classic. So why does someone else think they can do it better? Some are good, as I mentioned earlier Gary Hoey has a couple of amazing ones. But overall, I think most do not do justice to the originals.
I guess I'm the minority on this cover thing. I was wondering why so many covers and tribute albums keep getting made. People obviously like hearing other musician's songs being remade. "Am I Evil" was an obscure song, so that I understand. But who needs to hear a Motley Crue song remade? Just my opinion. Or hearing Marq Torien singing Journey. That is like razor blades to the ears!
I'm with ya man. 8)
one time a month....i guess it fits because thats when your period starts too eh black lab?

:D

I love cover day...it rocks...

I love all the new stuff too and this station....one day a month I get to pick some great covers...the rest of the month I try not to pick them at all....i may be in the minority on that.

just enjoy it...you can pick whatever songs you want...it all rocks

I do the same thing. Occasionally, I get a cover on a RR. Other than that, I like to leave the covers for "Cover Day" - which I enjoy.
