Little late this morning with my DT request. Had to sit in on an IT seminar first thing this morning. Heard a lot of abbreviations and acronyms that I still have no idea what they mean.
From:
Black Lab

I dont understand all those abbreviations and acronyms either. Whats is IT? I mean I know it's it, but what is it?
IT is Information Technology. I was also dealing with VOIP, LAN, WAN, MPLS, VPN, T1, DS3, ATM, etc. (etc. means "and so on" :wink: ). There was a shit load of others that I don't remember. I zoned out about 30 minutes into it. :shock:
I know LAN is Local Area Network, and WAN is Wide Area Network. Learned that in my Computer Science class in college. The rest? No clue.
My favorite computer lingo:

"You must have a chair to keyboard interface problem"

OR

"You have a "I.D. 10-T" problem" I-D-1-O-T = IDIOT

:lol:

Glad you enjoyed that, Doc!

VOIP= Voice Over Internet Protocol (Like Skype)
WAN= Wide Area Network
LAN= Local Area Network
VPN= Virtual Private Network (logs you in to a network securely)
MPLS= MultiProtocol Switching Network (carries data from one network to the next - won't go into complicated details)
T1= pulse code modulation (fiber optics would be a prime example)
DS3= has something to do with modulation over certain cabling)
ATM= where you get cash. Just kidding. Asynchronous Transfer Mode (network protocol)

I guess that's what you get for working as a geek for 15 years...

thanks walt - I had to take a small IT test for a job the other week, there were a few questions about these abbrevations, too. WLAN was among them, as well as BCC (blind copy in e-mails), a question about dial-up modem speed,, questions where ya had to pick 'which of these is not an OS / a microsoft office package / an internet browser and some other stuff that I can't even remember. lol. didn't get that job cause i would have had to commute 2.5 hours one way (and I didn't really want it either, for the same reason). the job I got today is under 30 mnutes door to door. I'd say that's much better ;)

I guess my favorite real life anecdote from this whole IT circus is the little granny who's calling IT support to help her with her internet connection and she's told to close all the windows, so she sets the phone aside, comes back after 5 minutes and says, ok, i've closed all the windows in the house now. what next?" :lol:
Sonja, don't laugh. I actually had a guy in Alabama do that to me when I was doing OS/2 support for IBM! I told him to close his Windows and well, you know the rest.

Hmmm.... I????????m sure there????????s someone out there that liked this one.

Not me.
Me neither. We have that crap on here but are still missing tons of great stuff? :?
I was gonna' comment on this as well - you both beat me to it. I like most of D.A.D.'s stuff, but much of what's on this early compilation is pure crap.

I have always liked D:A:D; however, their early stuff is a little weak. You have to understand, at that time, they were a very different band before they grew their "rock" wings.

As for this tune, just take it as "light-hearted" & silly fun.
