Originally named Rude Girl, Malibu Barbi was an all-girl band from San Francisco. Despite the glam sounding name, they played in a power metal style that was especially notable for the strong vocals of Leather Leone (Chastain, Leather). After their first release, the Rude Girls 12", drummer Sandi Sledge left to form Warbride and Leather left to focus on Chastain. The rest of the band continued on but in more of a punk style. In 2010, Sandy and Leather reunited under the name Sledge Leather Project.
