Guitarists Al Morris and Julio Lomma formed 3rd Stage Alert in 1982.  They were joined by bassist Dave Renta and drummer Kerry Devine.  The lineup was completed by Dave Drury, former singer for the Philadelphia version of World War III.  Together they released their first track "Mind Invader" on the Metal Massacre II compilation LP.  After this release, Devine and Renta were replaced by former Steeler drummer Mark Edwards and bassist Ron Murray from the AOR band Burning Rome.  The band caught the attention of Yngwie Malmsteen who produced their self-titled EP which was released in 1984.  Mark Edwards would go on to play in Jack Starr's Burning Star, Lion and Riot, among others.
