I discovered this band on their debut through Scarlet Records while following Frozen Crown, a band that has move to a larger label and bigger tours. Some cool stuff coming out of Italy and Greece, places that were typically ignored as metal mechas.

LYRRE - Orchard

New single from this project started by Polish pagan themed writer and player of the hurdy gurdy, that began when she left Eluvetite. I got their debut 2 years ago and it is amazing. A mix of ambient metal, medieval instruments at times (always a hurdy gurdy) and incredible vocals and themes. Should see a new album from them soon!

POPPY - Bruised Sky

As I like to do here on occasion, I throw something in that is pretty far outside this site "theme" because I dabble in all styles of metal (well besides Nu metal except for Papa Roach LOL) so do like some, what would be called, metalcore bands. Not many, as there is a slew that just scream non-stop with limited melody, but do stumble on some interesting things now and again, like SpiritBox as example.
Poppy has a very odd backstory as she was a YT creator for years, starting about 10 years ago, and the vids she created with a collaborator were, let's just say, super odd. She ditched that collaborator because she was interested in exploring metal, like industrial and metalcore. It worked well as she got a grammy nod last year and she has a new album in the works and this is the latest single.
Super fuckin heavy, screams and then amazing singing, and a head chopping breakdown, I dig it!

Man, I was stoked about this one and honestly, it fell into the pile with Testament, Metal Church, Exodus, etc, of just boring. It sounds like generic thrash, the "Heathen feel" seems to be missing.
What a shame.

Was hesitant about this one, but this is pretty freakin cool! The singer is on par with the late great Midnight!
