Originally named Anvil, Raw Deal comprised singer O. Youll, bassist G. Youll, guitarist Regan Cairns, and drummer Kevin Thompson. Not to be confused with the other Raw Deal from Kent, this version only produced one record: "Lonewolf" b/w "Take The Sky". The single was released on Neat Records in 1981 and was different to the usual Neat material in that it was more of a 1970s style blues rocker. Sometime afterward the bass player was replaced by Steve English from Blitzkrieg and the vocalist by Des Horsfall from Turbo. Several other lineup changes followed, but Cairns kept the band going all the way into the early 2000s.
