Although not a fan of the grindcore scene, there is something about later Sep that still appeals to me. What often happens is the singles that are released are the super fast grind tunes (guessing this is what the record company feels the fans want), although this album has quite a few slower, mid-temo very melodic songs that emulate early Sep material. So unless the whole album(s) is explored the theme seems pretty much the same.
This album in particular has tunes that will never see the light of day but are actually the best tunes on the release. IMO one of their best Derrick Green era offerings.

Look up Alethea, Machine Messiah or Cyber God as examples.

The Obsessed - Sacred (Official Music Video)
'Sacred' is out now on CD/LP/DLX. 2xLP/Digital via Relapse Records.

These guys hail from my home state; Maryland, been around well over 20 years. Amazingly I have never seen them live, but recall swiping a cassette tape my brother had of one of their early releases. Cool doom style with excellent riffs and great leads.

IMO there is nothing worse than a band dropping a whole album covering other bands music. I guess it beats sucking dick for your next heroin fix.

What would we have done without the North Euro countries (still) keeping traditional metal alive? Be stuck with post grunge and nu metal?
Here is a Swiss based all female metal band called BURNING WITCHES that kicks it hard in the trad style with screeching vocals, heavy riffs and killer leads.

Good stuff skulls! Here are some 2017 new and upcoming releases I really like from new(ish) bands.

Night Demon's brand new album Darkness Remains offers nothing new, just classic NWOBHM/proto-thrash goodness.

The Night Flight Orchestra features members of Soilwork and Arch Enemy but sounds more like late 70s/early 80s AOR. I loved their last album (Skyline Whispers) and I'm really looking forward to Amber Galactic which comes out on May 19th.

Another Swedish band, Horisont, set the clocks back even further with their trademark 70s heavy rock sound. This is the title track from their new album About Time.

Keir, all very cool, but diggin the Night Demon big time! Found their EP, second album (3.55 each to start) and the new one (12.98) on eBay already so adding them to the collection soon. This would fit very well on the station too, so I'll add them to the FTP in the near future :horns:

Thanks Metalero! I did not even know these guys had an album in the works so this was a nice surprise. DF get a bad rap, it's a love hate thing with them and most of the criticism is about playing at hyper speed all the time (although they have plenty of mid-tempo tunes if one explores the albums as a whole). First off, no one sounds like this band, they are unique indeed in sound and expertise, and second jealously a sad thing, most haters wish they could play like this! :hbang1:

I think another reason people hate them is because they became famous after appearing in Guitar Hero. Suddenly people who knew nothing of the power metal genre were saying they liked Dragonforce so it became uncool for "true" metalheads to like them anymore (people worry about these sorts of things way too much).

I agree, this has been a huge issue in the metal community since the beginning. I used to get crap back in the day because I loved bands like Metallica, Anthrax, Kreator, etc, but also was into glam/pop stuff like White Lion and Poison (my selections here proves this is still true!). They would say "you can't be a thrasher and like that crap too, you poser". Really? If I liked it, I did not care about the genre or how underground or how popular it was (example; everyone getting on the Bon Jovi hate train when Slippery When Wet went huge).
It's a shame because many metalheads ignore other types of music because it is not hard enough, or too hard, too popular or whatever. This still goes on with old schoolers and the new generations of metal listeners, just read metal blog posts or watch and read comments on metal YouTube vids. We all have our likes and dislikes, there are metal types I do not enjoy for sure, but to not be open minded about styles and caring if it is the "big thing" at the time or not; it's their loss and could be missing out on something really cool.
