I was the other way around....I only caught Friday night and missed all of Saturday on TV.
Night Ranger was fantastic and (IMO) truly appreciated being there and still rockin'....in america Brad Gillis was awesome as usual -- it it me or he be Sammy Hagar's long lost brother, lol!!! I missed Jeff Watson, but his replacement (who has been in the band for quite sometime now) really was awesome, too!!! I have always liked Night Ranger's unconventional approach to staging with Kelly & his drums all the way on the right and sideways (instead on in the tradition middle)-- and afterall, he is one of vocalist and can interact with the crowd much better! Loved their set from start to finish.
I was REALLY looking forward to see KIX's set and I had set my DVR to capture the action. I was bummed BIG TIME when HDNet only broadcast the first TWO f'n tunes!!! then they went to the UFC match live. BUT I see I am not to worry since RCC has posted the balance of their set, which I will watch for sure later today!!! Thanks, dude Oh, from what I saw of KIX, I really liked....but only after a rough start with guitar levels being low & unbalanced, and Steve's vox needed a bit of a "warm-up" in the first verses of the opening tune, "Hot Wire"
I think they shoulda been the closer! i got the show dvr'ed so i havent seen all the others, but its gonna be hard to out-play Stryper! dude, they sounded great! was that Timothy Gains back with the band? Oz should can his guitar tech
Punkus, yeah that was Tim Gaines back on bass. I don't recall if he was back on the last two albums (without looking) but did hear he was going to do some touring dates. Agree, they sounded awesome.
Terry Illous for GW and XYZ....thanks for the correction Pieman. Some of these bands change guys so much it's hard to keep up with them
L.A. Guns sounded amazing but Phil sounded like an arrogant prick telling the fans stuff like well at least we got 45 minutes this time and i guess you wanted us so here we are...not doing the boat thing yada yada.
I kinda got a different impression Dale. I watched it again (thanks RCC!) to see if was just because I had a few brews in me when I watched it, but still seemed to think Phil was being pretty cool. He said "The fans spoke, they wanted us on the bill and we are on the bill and we thank you!" and then bowed to the crowd. He then ask if everyone could hear ok (more than once) and it was great to be back at Merriweather (they were at the last M3 show).
And then I think about getting a better set (45 mins) was a crack at the promoters, not the crowd, he seemed to be happy to have a longer set to play (which Stryper for instance didn't). Then they did a meet and greet after the set...
It's all personal perception I guess, but he didn't seem to be acting like a dick by any means.
Either way, they kicked ass
